Getting started with Elluminate Live! V9
October 23, 2008 - eMINTS has upgraded to Elluminate V9. Links below lead to Elluminate support and training documentation for this newest version. Enjoy the new features.
System requirements
For a client machine to run an Elluminate session:
Required (in addition to platform-specific below)
- 20 MB free disk space
- Soundcard with speakers and microphone or headset
- 28.8 Kbps Internet connection
- Java 1.4.2 or higher
Windows client
- Windows 98/ME/2000/XP
- Pentium III 500 MHz processor
- 128 MB RAM (98/ME); 256 MB RAM (2000/XP)
Mac client
- Mac OS 9.2, Mac OS X 10.2.8, 10.3.9 and 10.4
- G3, G4, G5 or Intel processor
- 128 MB RAM (OS 9.x), 256 MB RAM (OS X)
- Microphone (internal, USB or iSight)
Java desktop system (Linux) client
- Java Desktop System 3
- Pentium III 1 GHz processor
- 256 MB RAM
Solaris client
- Solaris (Sparc only) 9 and 10
- UltraSPARC IIc 300 MHz
- 128 MB RAM
Before your first event (one-time set up)
At least 1 day before the scheduled start time of your first event via Elluminate Live test your connection and ability to interact with eMINTS using Elluminate Live e-conferencing tools.
- Visit the Elluminate Live support website to verify your tools and test your connection.
- Follow the directions under the heading First Time Users until you see a big green checkmark.
- Under Step 2 - click the link to "Join the Configuration Room" to verify your ability to connect to an Elluminate session.
Note: You may be prompted to accept a download from elluminate.com or prompted about a security certificate. Click "yes" or "OK" or "allow" to continue. Do not close the browser window until the Elluminate log in screen appears.
- Participants in Elluminate e-conferencing sessions can participate using only their computer's speakers and a chat window. But for best user experience, a USB headset with microphone is highly recommended.
Tip: If you are using a USB headset, make sure it is connected to your computer before launching an Elluminate session.
- Each time you join an Elluminate session, you should perform a quick audio set up check -
Go to Tools > Audio > Audio Setup Wizard and follow the onscreen prompts.
- Some connection issues, such as firewalls and proxy servers, require the intervention of local tech support personnel. Therefore it essentail that a test connection be performed at least one day before your first Elluminate session to permit time for any necessary troubleshooting and site configuration changes (a rare experience).
- Limited technical support is available from eMINTS staff at the time of your session. Contact the eMINTS office at (573) 884-7202 and ask for Elluminate help.
