Finding Missouri video series
The video series, Finding
Missouri: Our History and Heritage, for students and teachers in Missouri's
elementary and secondary schools, was funded by the Missouri Department
of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) and the Historical
Preservation Section of the Missouri
Department of Natural Resources.
Each of the 18 videos focuses on a single topic and lasts approximately
10 minutes. The videos feature documentary film footage, images of and spoken
words from primary sources, reenactments of historical events and people, footage
of historical sites and interviews with experts.

Background
Finding Missouri: Our History and Heritage first was
broadcast via satellite in December 2000. A set of the Missouri Heritage video
tapes was sent to every Missouri public school building with a seventh grade population
in February 2001. In addition, sets were sent to all public libraries, and in
the case of a large library system, extra sets were sent for the branches. The
videos are copyright-free, which means they may be copied without restriction
for use in classrooms. Original boxed sets of VHS tapes are no longer available.
Digitized videos can be accessed online both from
eMINTS' website and from
DESE's website.
