eMINTS at NSBA T+L Conference
Three Missouri eMINTS teachers were selected to present at the National Schools Boards Association Technology + Learning (NSBA T+L) October 27-30, 2009 in Denver, Colorado. Lori Mathys, elementary eMINTS teacher from Rockwood R-VI, Denis Knight, middle school eMINTS teacher from Junction Hill C-12, and Tish Warner, high school eMINTS teacher from Worth Co R-III will take turns demonstrating how they teach in their eMINTS classrooms in a model classroom exposition at the conference.
Attendees will be able to participate in the model classroom as either "students" or observers. The "students" will use the equipment in the classroom as the teacher "teaches" a lesson using eMINTS strategies and methods. The observers will listen and ask questions of the session facilitators, Monica Beglau, Executive Director of the eMINTS National Center and Lorie Kaplan, eMINTS Program Director. The classroom equipment is provided courtesy of SMART Technologies, Intel and Hewlett-Packard. SMART Technologies also sponsored the teachers' travel and NSBA provided complimentary conference registrations.

Optional teacher portfolio registration open
Missouri and out-of-state teachers who are not required to submit portfolios but who would like to do so for an opportunity to secure DESE recognition (in Missouri) and access to resources provided by the eMINTS National Center to veteran eMINTS teachers should register for enrollment in the appropriate online portfolio submission Moodle course no later than November 20, 2009.
- Teachers currently in year 2 of eMINTS Comprehensive or eMINTS4All professional development who are receiving their professional development from a district-level trainer.
- Veteran eMINTS or eMINTS4All teachers who completed their professional development programs prior to spring 2008 with an eMINTS staff member OR a participant or certified graduate of the eMINTS PD4ETS program. The PD4ETS participant or graduate must have met all program requirements in effect at the time. Veteran eMINTS and eMINTS4All teachers pay a $50 portfolio review fee.
Completed registration forms will be reviewed for acceptance into the online Moodle course where portfolios will be submitted. Only individuals who have met (or expect to meet) program attendance requirements and received professional development from an eMINTS staff member, participant of PD4ETS or certified graduate of PD4ETS in good standing will be admitted to the online course. All submission guidelines and item rubrics will be available in the online course.
