e-Learning for Educators summer registration
Online registration is now available for all e-Learning for Educators courses that start this summer. Courses average six weeks in length (with a one-week orientation) and range from a special series on teaching elementary science to teaching personal finance for high school students. There is even a special scholarship and stipend opportunity for Missouri high school teachers who are teaching the required personal finance course.
e-Learning also offers opportunities for schools and districts to use "stimulus" funds to learn how to create online courses for students and teachers.
e-Learning courses are available to teachers all over the U.S. and in Australia. They are facilitated, asynchronous courses that also can be taken for graduate credit through several Missouri universities.
Registration closes May 20 and courses begin June 3.
Funding opportunities
As funding/grant opportunities for educational technology and professional development are found, we will post them here. Please be sure to read the "fine print" as some apply only to specific areas or for specific school populations. Not all are specifically for eMINTS but could be used (perhaps in combination) to obtain the funds for the equipment and PD.
- Enhancing Learning - applications due spring and fall. Next application due date is September 11, 2009. Grant availability appears to be limited to the greater St. Louis, MO area
- The Foundation Center - provides lots of information about foundations in all states for all areas. You will have to research the site to find foundation opportunities specific to technology.
- Triangle Coalition - a site dedicated to promoting science, technology, engineering and mathematics education. The resources page notes a number of grant opportunities.
