Missouri governor visits eMINTS classrooms and announces budget proposal

Governor Matt Blunt visited eMINTS classrooms at Maplewood-Richmond Heights on December 14. Special thanks to everyone at MRH for their hospitality and for all the work involved in preparing for the visit. The governor toured the 1:1 laptop program in the middle school with stops in Tammy Brown's social studies classroom and Christy Moore's science classroom. Following the visit, Governor Blunt announced his FY09 proposal to fund 12 school-wide eMINTS programs across the state and to fund an equal number of school-wide mathematics and science curriculum implementations for the 2008-2009 school year.

The eMINTS program implementations proposed by Governor Blunt are in addition to any school-wide programs that may be funded using federal Title II.D EETT funds. Watch for details about the grant competition for eMINTS programs and for the mathematics and science curriculum programs.
Guidelines and application details are being developed at DESE and are expected to be released in mid-January 2008.
