eMINTS and eMINTS4All teacher input requested

The eMINTS National Center works continuously to improve the professional development experiences we provide. One important component of our program is helping participants develop higher skill levels in the use of various pieces of software.

We are seeking input from current and veteran eMINTS and eMINTS4All teachers from all states through an online survey about how software skills are taught in eMINTS professional development programs. The information collected from this online survey will be anonymous. It will be used only to improve our programs and not for any research purposes. The survey will take about 20 - 25 minutes to complete.

Survey closes May 9, 2008.

eMINTS in Australia

Three eMINTS staff members are heading for Australia on Feb. 12 to provide PD4ETS-type training to 21 Aussie instructional technology specialists who will then begin training eMINTS and eMINTS4All teachers in New South Wales, Australia.

This partnership is the result of more than two years of communication and sharing. eMINTS teachers and specialists in the St. Louis and Columbia areas allowed Australian educators to visit their classrooms and eMINTS professional development sessions and now it's eMINTS turn to visit colleagues 'down under.' We will keep you updated and introduce the eMINTS community (virtually) to our new acquaintances in Australia as their eMINTS project (called e-iteach) grows and thrives.
eMINTS funding opportunities

Applications for both Title II.D and METS program are due March 31, 2008.

Two funding opportunities for school-wide eMINTS projects are now available. Title II.D Enhancing Education Through Technology (EETT) program of federal dollars is allocated through DESE.

The second opportunity builds on state support for eMINTS that was started last year with the eMINTS/METS Classroom Grant program. This year, the Governor has requested $2.9 million in state funding for 12 school-wide eMINTS projects across Missouri.

It is possible to apply for both funding options; however, districts must meet specific poverty guidelines to qualify for Title II.D.

Educational technology funding updates

Just when it seems that the budget for one year is settled, the battle for dollars begins again. Congress recently provided for Title II.D funding for FY08 that would create formula and competitive grant funds for educational technology. Nearly the same week, the Administration announced its FY09 budget and once again (as it has for the past three years) called for zero funding for the program in the FY09 budget cycle.
If you are using the most recent version of the Internet Explorer web browser, it will not allow Dreamweaver to save your login credentials in Dreamweaver, so the connection between your local files and the remote web server cannot be made. You must enter your Login and Password manually in the Site setup dialog every time you start a new Dreamweaver session.
e-Learning for Educators seeks Missouri educators for research study

e-Learning for Educators is looking for Missouri educators to participate in a research study. Recent changes to the research plan make participation more feasible for teachers. The most significant change is that participating educators will receive a $300 stipend for their work. In addition, the research study no longer requires a group of teachers from a single school participate; individual teachers are welcome to join the study. Please share the information with your colleagues.

Requirements for participation

Missouri educator who teaches 4th grade English Language Arts (ELA), 5th grade Math, 7th grade ELA or 8th grade Math.

Participating educators can have a self-contained classroom as long as they include one of the above content areas in their curriculum.

Non-eMINTS teachers are eligible and encouraged to participate in the research study.
