This 3-day intensive, professional development opportunity is unlike any offered before and is designed to introduce Missouri educators at any grade level or content area to teaching in an online environment using a hands-on, facilitated approach. Upon completion of the camp, participants will have developed an online learning plan and established an online classroom space instance, configured to their specific course or grade level requirements.

These 7-week courses, facilitated by certified educators, are open to teachers and others in any state.

Course costs are $150 per person with graduate credit available at an additional cost. A limited number of partial scholarships are available to Missouri educators (limit of 3 scholarships per district, please) on a first-come, first-served basis.

In addition to a great line-up of courses for teachers at all grade levels and content areas, two exciting new courses premier this summer:

  • Going Mobile K-12:  Capturing the power of Smartphones, tablets, apps and more!
  • What is the Right Blend?  Making sense of blended and hybrid learning for the K-12 classroom

Registration closes May 23. Courses begin June 12 and end July 24.

Some of the topics of this meeting will include

  • Teachers’ expectations for summer work and training, which will affect use of their equipment
  • Suggestions for updating student laptops over the summer months and reimaging them for next school year.
  • Issues that need to be addressed (MovieMaker, laptop microphone and camera)

During the meeting, representatives from CDW-G, KCAV, EarthWalk and BrainPOP will be available to answer questions.

A link to attend the online meeting hosted in Blackboard Collaborate web conferencing tools will be shared with program participants in their eMINTS Moodle course.

To prepare for these online assessments eMINTS i3 Data POCs and all additional proctors for the Assessments are required to attend a one-hour webinar. Submit proctor(s)’ contact information and register for webinar date/time online by Wednesday, April 4, 2012.

Webinar for 21st Century Skills Assessment proctors

Each participant will be asked to choose one date/time (in the brief registration form below) to attend a webinar whose purpose is to help the District Data POC and assessment proctors learn about using the 21st Century Skills Assessment from Learning.com. There is no cost and no limit to the number of individuals from your district who may attend the webinar session. However, each webinar session is limited to 30 participants.

A link to attend and instructions for accessing the webinar will be sent to the District Data POC and any additional proctor attendees prior to the webinar chosen.

It provides foundational knowledge about how online learning can contribute to educational productivity. The report has sections on cost analysis of using online learning (how to estimate program costs and measure program outcomes) to help reduce costs and make education more efficient, particularly at the high school level.

The article tells how eMINTS trainer Klista Reynolds and others came to grips with the realization that their high school and tech center were gone and other schools severely damaged by the tornado that swept through Joplin in May 2011.
