Costs only $300 per participant
Description: Take a field trip in St. Louis with a twist. Discover St. Louis landmarks through field studies designed to create inquiry-based lessons and extend the learning beyond the bus ride. Grab your back pack and prepare for a learning adventure.
Intended audience: Classroom teachers at all grade levels in any subject area and administrators interested in improving their understanding of inquiry-based learning.
Special Notes: Participants are encouraged to bring their gadgets: digital cameras. laptop computers, iPods or other MP3 devices and microphones, etc. Sunscreen, insect repellant and water bottles are recommended. All basic exhibits to be visited are free of charge.. Participants are responsible for any admission fees for exhibits they select beyond the basics.
MEALS: Day 1 and Day 2 – participants are responsible for their own meals as the sessions will be on location in Forest Park. Bring a sack lunch or purchase from a snack bar. Day 3 – Lunch and snacks will be provided.

Day 1 – Participants meet for introductions and pre-field trip activities. The group will go to Forest Park in the afternoon to begin project work.

Day 2 – Participants meet and make connections about field trip experience from Day 1. In the afternoon, participants will select another Forest Park experience to attend as they collect additional ideas and data.

Day 3 – Participants brainstorm and use the eMINTS lesson plan to create inquiry-based learning units related to their field trips. Discussion about how to extend this type of planning to other field trip experiences will also be shared.
Topics
- Create unique learning experiences for the classroom while being guided in the essentials that support the development of inquiry-based lessons.
- Create classroom extensions for traditional field trips that provide the inquiry-based learning benefits to these experiences.
- Incorporate technology to enhance traditional field trips and create new student products as a result of field trips.
