This site provides information about people in your neighborhood that are there to help you. Click on each building to learn about who they are and what they do.

Fun Social Studies
This site gives a good introduction about community helpers. What is a community? Who are community helpers? What make makes someone a community helper? NOTE: This site has a link to discussion board.

Community Club
This site provides information about different jobs of community helpers. Each unit has a test and includes audio. Click on community workers to learn about their jobs.

Firefighters
Watch an animated story of firefighters.

Farmers
This site provides detailed information about the jobs of farmers and explains the role of farmers in a community. Movie clips are included. NOTE: This site is appropriate for older students.

Veterinarians
This site provides information about various types of veterinarians and their jobs. Pictures and video clips of how a veterinarian works are included.

Lesson Plan
This site provides lesson plan activities for early childhood - kindergarten classroom.

PBS: Community Helpers
This site provides ideas for a classroom activity.

Rhymes for Community Helpers
This site includes rhymes of community helpers. Use poems, fingerplays and action songs to learn about work people in communities perform.

Sing a Song
A song students can sing that talks about what they can do when they grow up.
