Students can learn about math and how it is used to make yummy chocolate.

Math Architecture

Plane Math
Play these interactive plane math activities and learn why math is so important to flying.

Students explain how they use math everyday in this collection of quotes.

Sport Math
Students can try to solve these sports-related math questions. Includes links to sports math quiz sites.

Math Investigations I
This activity can help students discuss how math is used daily. Includes a short video clip about how math is used in softball.

Math in Everyday Life
In this activity, students can explore time and money and how these math areas are important in everyday life.

PBS: Mathline
Here are several lesson plans about math in various aspects of real life.

BBC: Revise Wise
Play games and learn various math concepts. The site connects math concepts with daily life experiences. NOTE: The "Communicate" link at the top leads to message boards.

Exploratorium: Science of Baseball
Students can learn how math is closely related to baseball. Includes interactive games such as "Fastball Reaction Time" and "Scientific Slugger." NOTE: Requires Shockwave.

eThemes Resource: Math: Telling Time
These sites help students read digital and analog clocks. Topics include time zones, daylight savings, calendars, and the history of clocks. There are several online games and printable pages for students to practice telling time. Includes a link to an eThemes Resource on time zones.

eThemes Resource: Math: Money
These sites help students learn about the value of coins and bills and how to identify them. There are several class activity ideas and online games, including making change and figuring the total change. Includes links to related eThemes Resources on money.

eThemes Resource: Math: Word Problems
These sites feature math word problems and brain teasers. There are also techniques for solving problems. Several of these online exercises are interactive.
