Students and teachers can manipulate these virtual pattern blocks to make different shapes.

Interactive Mathematics: Pattern Blocks
This is a virtual pattern block site where the figures can be manipulated.

Tangrams: Lesson Plan
This lesson plan has students create a set of tangrams of their own.

Math Forum: Tangrams
This site includes several activities about tangrams. One activity has students make tangrams. Other activities include figuring the area of the tangram pieces. NOTE: The site has a link to forums.

What's in a Shape?
This site has three different activities for students to learn about shapes through tangrams. Includes needed links and sheets for the activities.

Shapes at Work
Students can study a shape, draw it, and sketch an object that has this shape in it. Either tangrams or pattern blocks can be used.

Tangram Page
This is a good introduction to tangrams. "Articles and Pictures" tells about the history of this Chinese puzzle. There is also a "Puzzle of the Month" to solve. "Bibliography" includes a list of resources on tangrams.

Pattern Block Activities on the Web
This site links to several activities using pattern blocks. Topics covered include fractions, symmetry, and geometry.

What's My Number?
In this classroom activity, students can figure the size of objects using pattern blocks.

PBS: It's a Perfect Fit
This class activity has students study pattern blocks and how the shapes relate to each other.
