This one-page PDF has a list of character traits.

Helen Tyson Middle School
This school celebrates a different character trait every month. This is an idea that can be adopted at other schools. The page includes definitions for the traits.

Character Traits Wheel
This page can be printed out and then mounted on cardboard to make a spinning wheel. Students can spin the wheel and then describe a character or write a story about a person who has that particular trait.

Character Traits Language Arts Lesson Plan
This lesson plan for grades four and five offers a good idea for getting students to understand how writers use character traits. NOTE: The site includes ads and pop-up ads.

Character Cube
This site has a lesson for teaching students about character traits. The links to the online story of "Jack and the Beanstalk" do not work. Choose a version from below. Students can complete a character cube after reading the story.

This site has three versions of the English fairy tale.

Students can watch this cartoon movie of "Jack and the Beanstalk." NOTE: The "Talk" link leads to message boards.

ThinkQuest: Crossroads of Character
Students put together this Web site on character development. Click on "Other Activities" for some games.

Friendswood Independent School District
This school district lists the descriptive attributes of their character education programs. Scroll down for a check-list of the "Six Pillars."

Arizona Department of Education
This state site has a monthly "Character Connections Newsletter" on trustworthiness, citizenship, fairness, caring, responsibility, and respect. Each newsletter is in PDF format for downloading. Scroll down for some free materials.

My Hero Teacher's Room
Students can study heroes as part of character education or to develop writing skills. Teachers can explore lesson plans, resources, calendar, and more. NOTE: The site has a link to a guestbook.

Character Education Lesson Plans
Students can study this chart which breaks down an attribute such as integrity into character traits such as honesty, dependability, loyalty, and conviction-driven. This site sells lesson plans and has a link to a free lesson.
