Description: These sites are about the Ozark Mountain region in southwest Missouri. Find out which famous Civil War battles took place here. The region is also noted for its lakes and the major tourism town of Branson. View Laura Ingall Wilder's home, take a virtual tour of the Precious Moments Chapel, and learn about other fun destinations. Other towns in the area include Springfield, Carthage, and Republic. Learn the history of this popular novel by Harold Bell Wright. There is also information about the production and the inspiration tower, which provides a good view of the Ozark Mountain region. Click on "Video Clips" for four short movies. NOTE: This site has a link to an online store and the "Popular Links" page has external links to businesses.

Silver Dollar City
This is the official site for Silver Dollar City, an amusement park. View pictures of the rides and send an electronic postcard.

Branson 4 Kids
This site has many links to musical shows and other activities in Branson as well as nearby sites. NOTE: Many of these links are for commercial sites, so teachers should preview before sharing in class.

Dickerson Zoo
Explore the official site for Springfield's Dickerson Zoo. Read about the white alligator that will be at the zoo during summer 2002. Click on "Exhibits" to see photographs of other animals.

Missouri Sports Hall of Fame
Click on "Online Tour" to learn more about the exhibits at this Springfield museum.

Wilson's Creek National Battlefield
This location is where the first major Civil War battle west of the Mississippi took place. Click on "In-Depth" to learn more.

Battle of Carthage State Historic Site
Visit the site of a historic Civil War battle that the South won. This page has minimal information now, but more may be added in the future.
