This site is specifically geared toward helping kids learn HTML. This does a good job of covering the basics plus including information about frames, cascading style sheets, and javascript. This award-winning site breaks the concepts into different chapters and offers review sections to make sure you understand.
The Bare Bones Guide to HTML
This site has a comprehensive guide available in multiple languages that you can view online or download and print out. This is a comprehensive list of HTML code. This site is more appropriate for teachers and upper-grade level students. NOTE: The site includes ads.

The Isle of HTML
This ThinkQuest site was created by students and explains how to format Web pages. There is a quiz at the end of each section.

This page offers the latest news about the Web and is an important site for serious Web designers.
How Web Pages Work
This site explains how Web pages work and includes diagrams. This is good background reading material that is helpful before you begin building a site. This page shows Web-safe colors and includes the codes you need to create the colors. At the bottom, click on "Color Scheme Laboratory" for an interactive way to choose a color.

These sites have tips and advice on how children and young adults can use the Internet safely. Includes tips on surfing, chat rooms, and how not to give out personal information. eThemes Resource: Technology: Dreamweaver
These sites offer tutorials and tips for creating a web site using Dreamweaver MX. Teachers who have previously created web pages using Netscape Composer can open their existing files in Dreamweaver and resave them. Topics include text editing, image editing, tables, rollovers, style sheets, and more. Learn by watching videos and Flash presentations or reading step-by-step instructions. There are also school page templates available to download for free.
