Description: These are cool sites for kids covering a variety of subjects. The sites include interactive games, hands-on practices, audio and video clips. Flash and Real Player are required. For some sites, it may take some time for pages to download.

Resource Links: Funology
The site is full of cool things to do around the house. Try interactive online games in "Brain Drains," conduct hands-on experiments in "The Laboratory," and make your own recipes in "The Kitchen."

FEMA for Kids
Site helps children learn about emergencies and difficult situations. Also learn how people help one another during difficult times. Check out "Games and Quizzes."

Yahooligan's Weekly Coolest Sites
The list contains the coolest sites as picked by Yahooligans. To look at the archives, click on "Next." NOTE: This is updated every week, so please check all sites before you let kids browse them.

Cool Sites for Curious Kids
The goal of this interactive site is to help kids appreciate science. You can dive into a miniature without a microscope, explore the plants world, get to know a butterfly's life circle, and more. These include instructions for experiments.

Hart School
This site has interactive activities on reading, language arts, spelling, and other subject areas. Includes some games that would be fun on the SMARTboard. Click "The Learning Site". Click on the "Video Updates" link for short videos on different subjects.

Kid's Discovery
The site is full of adventures. Watch live Web cams, explore various subjects, play games, and visit the world of insects in "Yucky." Notice: The "Yucky" section does contain information about bodily functions. NOTE: There are links that lead to ads.

Alien Empire Home
This special multimedia Web companion will take you into the fascinating world of insects. There are amazing graphics, sound and animation, enhanced video, and activities for kids. The navigation titles are vague, but click on a topic to enter.

What's a Print?
The site has information about etching, woodcuts, lithography, and screenprints. You can watch cool interactive demos of each art form. The site requires Flash 5. Sometimes the Flash detector is broken, so if you know you have the Flash 5, click on "Click Here" to enter.

Play Music
Click on "Take A Seat in the Orchestra" to play various instruments. The short video requires Quicktime. Click on "Try to Writing Your Own Music" to play fun musical games. Turn up the volume for this site!

EcoKids
This site teaches all about the planet and its animals. Includes games, news and facts about animals, special guests, gallery of children's art, and a discussion area.

Kids Dig Green
Through a series of games, puzzles and a virtual site tour, students could learn about archaeology. Learn how archaeologists word, and recontruct how our ancestors lived in a 19th century West Virginia farm.

4Kids.Org
This site compiles resources on various topics including quizzes, games, and informational sites.

Cool Food Kidz
Find out how to stay healthy with good nutrition and exercise.

Part-time Astronauts
Want to become a part-time astronaut? Join Arty and Greg at this cool animated site for activities, games, and information about the solar system and each of the nine planets. NOTE: Site includes ads.

Aesop's Fables
Read both traditional and modern versions of various fables with colorful illustrations. Requires the Flash plug-in.

Brain Pop
See the movies, play the quizzes, and explore the animated science world. NOTE: This site requires a subscription but it has a free trial period.

Kids Com
Travel around the world, make new friends, see lots of cool stuff, and play interesting games. NOTE: This site has a link to a chat room.

Ben's Guide
A cool site for kids to learn about the U.S. government.

National Geographic Kids
Learn about animals, create a cartoon, and more. Explore this extensive site. Includes audio and video. NOTE: This site includes ads.

Funbrain
Lots of interactive math games to choose from. Many would be fun on the SMARTboard.
