Choose several African Americans to read about; Willie Brown, Colin Powell, or Rosa Parks.

African American Mosaic
This is the Library of Congress site. Some text may be difficult but there are lots of photographs and images of original documents, like letters, ship logs, etc.

Biographies & Events
Pick a famous African-American to read about such as Harriet Tubman, Sojourner Truth, John Langston, or Thurgood Marshall. Includes photographs.

Breaking Racial Barriers
Learn of the outstanding achievements made by this group of African Americans whose portraits appear courtesy of The National Portrait Gallery and the Harmon Foundation.

ThinkQuest: Stamp on Black History
African-Americans featured on US stamps. Includes a tour of black history, games and activities, and a quiz.

African American History Challenge
Try an online quiz. Choose a difficulty level, read the question, and choose the correct answer. The sidebar has the biographies if you need help.

Shadow Leagues: The Story of the Negro Baseball Leagues
This Thinkquest student-designed site has lots of information about the teams, players, their equipment, and the stadiums.

Famous African Americans
This ThinkQuest is a listing of famous African American inventors, musicians and educators. Each person has a short biography written about them.

BlackPast.org
This site has an online encyclopedia of many African Americans. There are also primary documents and speeches. Click on "Multimedia" for audio files and videos.

These sites are about George Washington Carver, his life, his scientific achievements, and his impact on American agriculture. Learn about his national monument located in Missouri and how you can order a traveling trunk for your classroom. Also includes biographies, activity ideas, quizzes, lesson plans, and information about peanuts and sweet potatoes.
