These are stories about animals for younger students.

IPL Story Hour
This site has stories with illustrations. Click on a story title to begin. Then click on the arrows to turn the page.

The Kids Channel
Click on the "Stories" link to choose from four interactive stories. NOTE: The site includes ads.

Children's Storybooks Online
Scroll down to select from young children, older children, and young adult stories complete with illustrations. NOTE: This site includes ads and pop-up ads.

Beantime Stories
This site has several original stories and poems for younger children. There are illustrations to go along with them.

Alice In Wonderland
Read this classic by Lewis Carroll. Includes colorful illustrations.

Classic Bedtime Stories
Somewhat confusing homepage, but if you scroll down you will find stories to read. The stories are grouped into categories. NOTE: The site includes ads.

Kids' Corner Stories
Here are text, audio, and slide versions of classic children's stories including Beatrix Potter.

How The Leopard Got His Spots
The story by Rudyard Kipling with a few images of the African veldt.

BAB Books: On-Line Stories for Kids
Scroll down for a list of books to read on-line. NOTE: The site includes ads.

Candlelight Stories
This site has an extensive list of children's stories that can be read online. Click on the "Stories" link to select a story. NOTE: The site includes ads.

BookPALS Storyline Online
Watch a streaming video of one of your favorite actors reading a book. Teachers can download PDF files under "Download Activity Guide." NOTE: Site requires Flash.

FletcherHill: Online Stories, Games, and Activities
This site has action and comic book style stories. Includes games and activities based on the stories.

Hardgrove's Fables
Here are three stories that each teach a lesson. NOTE: The site includes ads and pop-up ads.

BookPop
Click on "Barely There," "Flutterbyes," or "Trolls" to see the chapters for each book. Pick a chapter and read the story. Once inside a story, click on "Listen" to have the story read to you.

Oobistories
Click on the book to read several fun stories about Oobie. Some of the stories include games. Just click anywhere on the page to advance through the stories "The Collectable" and "The Monster of the Forest."

The Bookhive
Students can click on "Hear a Story" for a video of different authors reading their stories. Click on "Modem" to access the video for each author. Requires RealPlayer.

Literature: What Makes a Good Short Story?
Students can read "A Jury of Her Peers." Activities related to the book are also available.

eThemes Resource: Storytelling
These sites have a variety of storytelling techniques. Includes story resources, articles, storytelling history, and integration of storytelling in classrooms.

eThemes Resource: Literature: Cinderella Stories
Read online Cinderella stories from around the world. Includes the Chinese, Romanian, English, Scottish, and Native American versions. There are handouts and lesson plans for studying Cinderella tales and comparing the similarities and differences of each.

eThemes Resource: Literature: Choose-Your-Own-Adventure Stories
These sites have examples of "Choose Your Own Adventure" stories. Includes definitions of story structure and tips on vivid grammar.
