Jesse James
This famous outlaw made St. Joseph his home in his later years. The site has an overview of his life. Click on the "Jesse James Home" link at the bottom for information about the house along with photos of Jesse and the home.
Military Career of William S. Harney
Biography of William Selby and Mary E. Harney. Harney was known primarily for his ability to make peace with American Indian tribes and later became Commander of the Department of the West in St. Louis during the Civil War. On the left-hand side of the page, click on "Harney Mansion" under Section 2 to learn about the Harneys' home in Sullivan, Missouri.
Aztec Club of 1847: William S. Harney
The Aztec Club was a group of generals and officers who served in the Mexican War. Many of them went on to become leaders in the U.S. Civil War. Click "Main Menu" or "Index of Biographies" to learn more.
