Printer and scanner

Must be installed and fully functional by Sept. 1, 2008.

For Comprehensive eMINTS PD only.

Minimum specifications

  • Color LaserJet All-in-One (Print, Scan, Copy) is acceptable if the scanner has a flat bed that opens so users can scan books, magazines, etc. without removing the pages. All-in-one printers with only a single-sheet feeder for scanning are not allowed.
  • 600 x 600 dpi for print and copy
  • 1200 x 1200 dpi for scanning
  • Print drivers should be PS and PCL compatible.
  • Choose the option that will meet specifications above with the least expensive ongoing costs for ink/toner supplies.

Note: It is permissible for teachers to use a shared printer as long as it is very easily accessible by the teacher AND the students. It may not be located in the office or a location the students cannot easily access – or that would require students to have a hallway pass. No more than two eMINTS classrooms may share a printer unless their class sizes are fewer than 20 students.

It is not necessary to purchase two separate printers (black and white as well as color), only insure that both black and white and color printing capabilities are available. The requirement for a color printer can be met if color copies of documents and photos can be printed on a networked copier/printer. The same easy access requirements for teachers and students must be met.

For example, if a black and white laser printer that meets specifications and access requirements is already available to the classroom, it is permissible to purchase a color inkjet for color printing or to use the color copy option described above.
