Teacher laptop

Must be installed and fully functional by Sept. 1, 2006.

Things to consider

  • Wireless network cards are allowed.
  • External USB memory cards with at least 256 MB of memory are allowed.
  • If an organization chooses, it may use a docking station with the laptop or Tablet PC so the teacher works from a single computer. In this configuration, a back up PC must be available that can connect to the interactive whiteboard. The back-up PC must meet student PC or student laptop specifications.
  • Districts must provide participants in the eMINTS PD, PD4ETS, PD4TEF, eMINTS4All and Collaboration4Success programs with a laptop or tablet that meets these minimum specifications.

  1. A back up computer must be available that can connect to the interactive whiteboard if the teacher is not at school and a substitute is in the classroom. The back-up machine does not need to be a tablet if that is the teacher’s main computer, but must meet student laptop specifications so instruction can continue.
  2. * Schools or districts with current site licenses for Inspiration may substitute Inspiration® for SMART Ideas™ if all professional development is provided by a certified eMINTS instructional specialist employed by the district.
  3. It is highly recommended that a docking station be purchased if funds are available.
  4. Anything above minimum in hardware is acceptable (for example, upgraded memory, graphics card or sound card).
