Effective June 15, 2010, eMINTS will discontinue hosting teacher websites

A decade ago, eMINTS customarily provided website hosting services for Missouri teachers in its professional development programs because options were few and/or expensive. While eMINTS continues to believe that a classroom website, well-designed and regularly maintained, is a valuable teaching, learning and communication tool, the widespread availability of district web hosting and low/no-cost online hosting for teachers' sites makes the time and cost investment required to continue providing hosting on an eMINTS server untenable.

As with other educational organizations, eMINTS is dealing with the tight financial times and we must find ways to reduce all possible costs. Please begin making other arrangements for your website files so that when we discontinue hosting websites as of June 15, 2010, your files will already be packed and moved. We are making this announcement in early 2010 to provide ample time for teachers to move their site files to a new location before the sites are removed.

Please consult with your local district or building technology coordinator about relocating your website from the http://teachers.emints.org domain to a local web server. If no local hosting solution is available, check out the following options:

If you need help zipping up the files on your current teachers.emints.org site to move them before the June 15, 2010 deadline, please contact support@emints.org.

Timeline

We will attempt to contact current webspace account holders via email addresss currently on file for confirmation that sites have been moved:

1. If you are no longer using the webspace on teachers.emints.org to host your classroom website, please send a message to support@emints.org indicating that you no longer are using that site and files can be removed, as of _____ date. Be sure to include the full URL of your site in the email message.
2. If you are using the space on teachers.emints.org server for your current classroom website, you may continue using it through the end of the 2009-2010 school year without interruption. But please do your end of year housekeeping tasks by zipping up files and moving them to a new hosting location before you leave for the summer. Your site and files will not be available when you return to school in August-September 2010. Please notify support@emints.org when you have completed the move to new hosting site. Be sure to include the full URL of yoru site in the email message.
