How We Help

How We Help

  • We advance student success by transforming the educator at any level through professional development.
  • eMINTS provides expertise in K-20 teaching and learning with technology.
  • With research-based content, we build capacity in educators by modeling applicable instructional/coaching strategies.
  • To truly transform educator learning, we provide ongoing support to coach the learners to achieve results on their institutional/classroom/coaching goals.
  • We have assisted hundreds of schools and districts in implementing successful, large-scale, technology programs.
  • We approach professional development using our effective, classroom-tested eMINTS Instructional Model.

What Works Clearinghouse

Since its inception in 1999, external evaluations of the eMINTS program have been conducted to determine the effects of eMINTS professional development (PD) on teacher and student outcomes and to improve program implementation. As a result, the Center’s flagship program, eMINTS Comprehensive PD Program, is one of the few programs with data to support the chain of evidence from delivery of a specific technology PD program to changing teacher practice and to positive impacts on student achievement (Martin, Strother, Weatherholt, Dechaume, 2008).

A recent Investing in Innovations (i3) funded randomized control trial of the program found significant, positive teacher outcomes as well as student outcomes that meet What Works Clearinghouse standards without reservations for “Moderate to Strong Evidence of Effectiveness.”

The eMINTS Instruction Model

The eMINTS (enhancing Missouri’s Instructional Networked Teaching Strategies) Instructional Model is based on more than twenty years of research and practice in participating schools. It includes four quadrants that exemplify the overarching concepts that eMINTS staff and program participants learn about and value during  program implementations. The quadrants are the foundation of all eMINTS project and program development and are used as a guide for improving and recognizing effective classroom practices.

College of Education and Human Development

eMINTS is an outreach unit for the College of Education and Human Development at the University of Missouri in Columbia, Missouri. Our expertise is with K-20 teaching that is powered by meaningful technologies. Our 20 years of results are backed by research in learner-focused practices, rather than technology-driven, instruction.

Research

Taking a holistic approach in professional development starts in the research conducted with participating schools to transform and challenge current mindsets and/or experiences. Through these grant partnerships, we improve our professional development techniques and content and consistently evaluate our focus and practices. This allows for continuous, applicable learning experiences for all our eMINTS participants.

Learn More

For me, eMINTS has been my saving grace. It allowed me to be fully comfortable going completely digital and virtual. By having the training and applying the practices my students were familiar with using technology and it has made our 2020 virtual learning a positive experience. It has also allowed me to be a support for other teachers who have not had this type of training. Without the skills I have acquired through eMINTS I can only imagine how stressful these times would be.
